Analysis of Nettie
Nettie, the sweet, thoughtful smart one. "I have never been able to bring myself to wear one of these dresses, which all seem to have been made with giants in mind, so I was glad Corrine's things. At the same time, I dreaded putting them on" (Walker, 190). In this book, Nettie is graceful, quiet, intelligent and know when to get herself out of bad situation. She is perceived as a leader, which is who she is. She takes care of Corrine and Samuels kids and educates herself and others. I think Nettie has a well off life compared to her sister. She wasn't really abused, she was educated, she wasn't forced into anything, she made herself a life. To be fully honest, I'm proud of who Nettie is due to how she carries herself, and the way her life has planned out.
I agree. Nettie had it planned for herself that it seems. She was always intrigued by learning new things. She always told Celie that she was smart, but Celie knew she wasn't. Nettie is a very generous person and I do see her making a success of herself with children and being a school teacher. Bailey Druschel

ReplyDeleteI agree Nettie is a sweet young lady, but I also feel like she is quite headstrong as well. The way she packed her things and set out to Africa to make a difference in people's lives show where her priorities lie. It is sort of like Nettie writes those letters to Celie in order to get her sister's mind of the situation she volunteered for in Nettie's place.
